Facts: Evolution is so creative. That’s how we got giraffes :o). Giraffes – here an enchanting reticulated giraffe family (Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata) – are some of Africa’s most iconic, magnificent, popular and engaging species and yet, surprisingly, we don’t know enough about them.
In recent times giraffes have been significantly threatened primarily by poachers and natural habitat loss. All life forms including these gentle herbivores play an important role in keeping local ecosystems functional. Destruction of these would ultimately have significant ecological impact.
