Motivated by my connection with the Russian compositor Stravinsky thanks the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, I recently purchased the film "Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky" (2009). Honestly, I had no idea the two met (and much more than met...), and I am happy to see that another famous French woman before me (smile) was close to him.
So, today, in need of a deep relaxation after some days of hard work, I looked at the film. It was heartbreaking to hear the French Parisian public booing the first representation of the Rite of Spring, screaming the words:
"It is an insult to music!"
At some point I had to stop the film and make a sketch of Coco, played by the beautiful French actress Anna Mouglalis, dreaming of Igor. I am sure, in her dream, it was snowing...
By the way, as Mrs Stravinsky asked Coco:
"You don't like colours, Mademoiselle Chanel, do you?
Coco answered
"Only if it's black!
Well, I guess Mademoiselle Chanel wouldn't have liked my paintings, they are full of "unblack" colours!
