The Lotshampas has been the persecuted ones of the Bhutanese. It is one of the world's most concentrated numbers of refugees coming from a region as small as Bhutan. There have been efforts to repatriate these refugees back to Bhutan but results have been dismal. Currently the diaspora is spread over the Netherlands, the US, Australia, Canada and other developed Western countries.
