Der Ort wurde bekannt, weil Pinocchio-Schöpfer Carlo Lorenzini den Ortsnamen als Pseudonym annahm. Collodi war der Geburtsort seiner Mutter und Lorenzini verbrachte hier einen großen Teil seiner Kindheit.
