St Mary's Lane in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, with its ancient brick and half timbered houses overhanging the street. Tewkesbury is a beautiful mkedieval town, many of its buildings giving a strong clue as to its age. It was sited at the point where the rivers Severn and Avon meet - a natural and formidable moat! Near this image is the Abbey - in the middle ages the spiritual and commercial centre of the town. In 1471, the Battle of Tewkesbury was a decisive point in the Wars of the Roses.
