„Muyingwa God Of Germination“

from the gallery of John Bailey
Description:

Interior design of the Indian Watchtower at the Grand Canyon includes several murals depicting various aspects of Hopi mythology and religious ceremonies. This is a mural of the God of Germination Legend that Hopi artist Fred Kabotie recreated in 1932. Muyingwa holds the cornstalk in his right hand, the Hopi’s main crop. Corn is vital for food and ceremonies. In his left hand are the planting stick and the bag containing seeds along with a gourd to water the seeds.
