Description:

The Wood Duck is one of my favorite birds. I am sure that is true for many other folks as well. I found this one on the Santa Cruz River at Ina Road in southern Arizona, USA. These birds were hunted to near extinction for their beautiful feathers, but are making a comeback. Last year, when I took this photo, there was only one there. This year, I have seen eight. Male. Aix sponsa.
